JACKSON, Miss. – Lucas Pereira struck again for the 10th goal of his junior season and Erik Macias scored his second goal to help lead the No. 25-ranked UT Tyler men’s soccer team to a 2-0 American Southwest Conference win over Belhaven on Thursday at the Belhaven Bowl.

The Patriots (9-2-3, 8-1-1 ASC) won its fourth straight game and extended its unbeaten streak to six with its ninth shutout of the season. Goalkeeper John McGuffin was challenged with only two shots on goal, saving both to earn the shutout while the Patriots put nine shots on goal against the Blazers. UTT is now 2-2-2 away from home this season.

Pereira, a junior from Spain, now leads the ASC with 10 goals this season and has 22 in his career with the Patriots after scoring in the sixth minute of play off an assist from Leandro Cid-Fernandez. Macias, who scored his first goal of the season last week against LeTourneau, scored again with a 24th minute goal against the Blazers to complete scoring.

Akon N’Guetta led the team with three shots on goal, while Macias and Pereira had two each.
