TYLER –  UT Tyler junior Lucas Pereira blasted a low shot that was too much to handle for the Ozarks goalkeeper for the first goal of the game and Jose Poo put it away for the Patriots who earned a 2-0 win over the Eagles on Friday at the Citizens 1st Bank-Perkins Soccer Complex.

The Patriots (8-2-3, 7-1-1 ASC) has now won three straight games and remain in contention for the ASC regular season title with only Mary Hardin-Baylor ahead of them going into the final weekend of the regular season. UT Tyler improved to 6-0-1 at home in after earning their eighth shutout in the regular-season home finale.

Pereira leads the ASC with nine goals after scoring in the 46th minute of play after sending a shot past the Ozarks (7-5-2, 3-4-2 ASC) goalkeeper. It would remain a close 1-0 game until Poo struck in the 87th minute to give the Patriots a two-goal cushion.

The Patriots finished the game with an 8-2 shots on goal advantage with Pereira, Leandro Cid-Fernandez, Chris Stamm, Ryan Brinda, Travis Collins, Samuel Huerta, Aron Alonso and Poo having shots on goal. UT Tyler goalkeeper John McGuffin made one save in the game where he, Jordan Welch, Akon N’Guetta and Cid-Fernandez were honored prior on Senior Night.

The Patriots will complete the regular season next weekend with road games at Belhaven on Thursday, Oct. 26 and the finale on Saturday, Oct. 28 against Louisiana College in Pineville, Louisiana.
