TACOMA, Wash. – Caio Godinho gave UT Tyler a 1-0 lead with an 11th minute goal, but Puget Sound would score a pair of unanswered goals to earn a 2-1 win over the Patriots on Saturday at East Field.

The Patriots (1-1-2) dropped their only game of the season in their final game of a four-game road trip to open the season. UT Tyler will now open American Southwest Conference play at 7 p.m. on Thursday against UT Dallas at home.

Godinho, a sophomore from Brazil, scored his second goal of the season to give the Patriots a 1-0 lead 10:36 seconds into the game but the team would only have two more shots on goal that wouldn’t get past the goalkeeper. UT Tyler finished the game with six total shots and three on goal, while the Loggers (2-1-0) had nine shots, including goals from Stefan Jensen in the first half to even the game and then the game-winner from Ezra Kraus off an assist from Dane Schatz in the 55th minute.

Leandro Cid-Fernandez had two shots on goal and three total shots for the Patriots, while Godinho had three shots and the goal. Godinho had one goal as a freshman and now has three in his UT Tyler career.
