AMERICAN SOUTHWEST CONFERENCE MEN’S SOCCER PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Lucas Pereira, MF, Jr., UT Tyler
University of Texas at Tyler junior midfielder Lucas Pereira (Barcelona, Spain) recorded a hat trick with three goals in Thursday’s 4-0 victory against East Texas Baptist. He added another goal in a 5-2 win over LeTourneau for his fourth goal of the week. This is the second Offensive Player of the Week award in Pereira’s career.

CO-DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – John Nicknish, GK, Fr., UT Dallas
University of Texas at Dallas freshman goalkeeper John Nicknish (Spring, Texas / Klein HS) posted two shutouts as the Comets went 1-0-1 at home. He made four saves in Thursday’s scoreless draw against Hardin-Simmons. He added another save in a 2-0 win against McMurry.

CO-DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Trent Ivy, GK, Fr., Hardin-Simmons
Hardin-Simmons University freshman goalkeeper Trent Ivy (Plano, Texas / West HS) recorded a pair of shutouts in goal as the Cowboys went 1-0-1 on the road. He came up with five saves in a 0-0 double-overtime tie at UT Dallas. He added four more saves in a 1-0 victory at Howard Payne.

OTHER TOP PERFORMANCES
Offensive
LeTourneau University junior defender Alec Wier (Cypress, Texas / Cypress Woods HS) scored a goal in each game this week, moving his scoring streak to four contests. He scored the first goal of the game in the YellowJackets’ 2-2 tie at Ozarks. He also scored in the first half in Saturday’s 5-2 loss at UT Tyler.

University of the Ozarks junior forward Thomas Ross (Heath, Texas / Rockwall-Heath HS) had a goal and an assist in the Eagles’ 2-2 draw against LeTourneau.

Hardin-Simmons freshman midfielder Luis Castro (Fort Worth, Texas / Boswell HS) scored the only goal for the Cowboys in their 1-0 win at Howard Payne.

UT Dallas freshman midfielder/forward Jesse Ardila (McKinney, Texas / McKinney HS) scored the game-winner on a free kick from just outside the penalty box in the Comets’ 2-0 win over McMurry.

Belhaven University junior forward Alex Hale (Walsall, England / Brownhills CTC) scored a goal and an assist in the Blazers’ 7-3 win at MUW.
