RECAP: @UTTylerMensGolf finishes 8th at Golfweek Invite

SANDESTIN, Fla. – UT Tyler senior Sam Hill finished at 2-under-par and recorded his fourth top-10 finish of the fall and the No. 1-ranked Patriots were eighth after the completion of the third and final round of the Golfweek Fall Invitational on Tuesday at the Raven Golf Club.

Hill, a senior from Florida, finished sixth overall with a 70-65-76 – 211 to complete the fall with all top-10 results. George Toone was 17th at the event with a 73-72-72 – 217 for the Patriots, while Tyler Uhlig carded a 75-69-75 – 219 for a 25th-place finish at the prestigious tournament. Trystan Perkins (75-77-78 – 230) finished 63rd and DJ Godoy (81-87-86 – 254) 89th for the Patriots who will now be away from completion until the last week of February.

St. Thomas won the tournament with a 284-278-295 – 857, while Huntingdon (287-285-292 – 864) was second and Illinois Wesleyan (288-283-294 – 865) was third. The Patriots finished eighth with a 293-283-301 – 877 which topped Concordia (280-294-305 – 879) which led the tournament after the opening round but dropped back its strong start.

Individually, Huntingdon’s Stephen Shepard won the tournament at 8-under-par with a 69-68-68 – 205 to overtake Hill who led the tournament after two rounds. Hill was the top American Southwest Conference player in the tournament with Logan Young (Concordia) finishing eighth with a 215.

UT Tyler is scheduled to return to competition on Feb. 26-27 at the Linda Lowery Invitational in Austin before also playing spring tournaments at Jekyll Island, Georgia, Montgomery, Alabama and Greensboro, North Carolina.
