TYLER – While soccer is hosting Howard Payne on Saturday, UT Tyler Athletics will be all over the map the next four days with volleyball, cross country and both golf teams traveling out of state to compete in Louisiana, Mississippi, Tennessee and Florida.

The UT Tyler volleyball team (8-1, 1-0 ASC) is coming off a sweep of LeTourneau on Wednesday and will play at Louisiana College at 7 p.m. on Friday and then at 1 p.m. on Saturday against Belhaven in Jackson, Mississippi. Blair Dressendorfer leads the team with 76 kills this season after having six in the three-set match in Longview, while Reighanna Guzman leads the team with assists after having 14 for the Patriots in the first of three matches this week. UT Tyler will be playing LC for the first time with the Wildcats competing in their inaugural season. Friday’s match is the first home game in the history of the LC program.

After hosting their first two meets of the season, the UT Tyler cross country teams will run at the Rhodes College Fall Classic on Saturday morning in Memphis, Tennessee. Will McIlroy has led the men’s team with a win at the King Campbell Spectacular to start the season and then a third-place finish at last Friday’s Braveheart Invitational. Rachel Willis has paced the women’s team with her first collegiate win coming at the Spectacular and then a top-10 finish last week. The men’s team start their 8K race at 8:30 a.m., while the women will compete in a 5K that will follow.

UT Tyler’s golf teams will begin their fall schedules with the men traveling to Tunica, Mississippi and the women playing at Howey-In-The-Hills, Florida in tournaments being played on Sunday and Monday. The Patriot men’s team is ranked No. 1 in the nation after finishing third nationally in 2017 and will look to defend their Rhodes College Fall Classic title from last season. UTT will be represented by Sam Hill, Trystan Perkins, George Toone, DJ Godoy and Tyler Uhlig. Hill and Toone are returning All-Americans for the Patriots, while Uhlig will be playing in his first tournament for UT Tyler. The women’s team is playing at the National Preview to begin their season. The Patriots won eight tournaments last season and finished fifth in the nation. UT Tyler will be represented in the season-opening tournament by Stephanie Tutt, Taylor Denton, Katie Hicken and freshmen Julia Gaumer and Hannah Washburn. UTT has won four straight ASC championships and has been in the top-5 at the national tournament the past five seasons.

The UT Tyler golf programs will return to Texas after the tournaments to host the Al Jones Memorial next week. The men’s tournament will be played at Hollytree Country Club and the women’s tournament at The Cascades.
