DALLAS – For The University of Texas at Tyler’s men’s cross country team, it’s a clean sweep so far this season as the teams has earned three first-place victories in their three races so far. This weekend, the men’s team finished first and the women’s team third out of the seven-team field at Dallas Baptist.

The Patriots men ran through the competition in the 8K, with R.J. Cowan (JR/Whitehouse, TX) becoming the third different Patriot to win a race. Cowan’s time of 27:06 was good for the victory, beating teammate Ben Donnan (SO/Paris, TX) who finished second with a time of 27:17. Warren Brown (SO/Lindale, TX) was fourth with a time of 27:53 and William Ritter (SR/Carthage, TX) sixth with a time of 28:05.

UT Tyler won the competition with 22 points, outstripping second place Dallas Baptist’s 51. The Patriots had four of the top six runners and six of the top ten.

The women’s team continues to improve, finishing third this weekend. Charity Bolling (SR/Stephenville, TX) was the top Patriot finisher on the 5K course, running a 21:47 for 11th place. Joanna Beers (SO/Hughes Springs, TX) finished 17th with a time of 22:55 and Lindsey Moore (FR/Gilmer, TX) finished 22nd with a 23:28 performance.

The Patriots will be off next weekend before returning to action with a split meet September 30 at Oklahoma State and McMurry.
