    PREVIEW: #UTTylerXC to compete in NCAA regional in Virginia

    The UT Tyler Patriots will compete in the NCAA Division III South/Southeast Region Cross Country Championship on Saturday at the Lee Hall Mansion Course in Newport News, Virginia. The men’s team will be represented by Will McIlroy, Matt Cecotti, Justin Tokuz, Nathan Adams, Jace Seymour, Shafen Borah and Charlie Quintero, while Patriot women competing are Rachel Willis, Theresa Simmons, Paulina Rodriguez, Amy Wyatt and Tristin Salem.

    The UT Tyler men's cross country team won its eighth straight American Southwest Conference Cross Country Championship title and the 12th in the past 13 years after having three top-10 finishers on Saturday at Old Settlers Park.

    The UT Tyler Cross Country program will host the Braveheart Invitational at 7 p.m. on Friday on the UT Tyler campus trails with the starting and finish lines at the intramural fields. The men’s 5K has nine teams and 81 entries, while the women’s field included 13 teams and 97 runners who will be navigating the trails.

    UT Tyler sophomore Will McIlroy won the King Campbell Spectacular last Friday for his first collegiate cross country win. On Tuesday, he earned ASC Runner of the Week for the Patriots who will host the Braveheart Invitational this weekend on campus.
