This week’s release of the NCAA national and regional polls
has brought more good news for UT Tyler’s athletics teams.
Topping the list, Wednesday’s posting of the updated
Golfstat national head-to-head rankings for men’s golf puts the Patriots as the
No. 1 team in the country. This comes after the UT Tyler men cruised to a
16-stroke victory at the Al Jones Memorial Invitational on Monday and Tuesday
in Tyler.
The Patriots, who had previously been ranked fourth in the
poll, travel to Sandestin, Fla., later this week for the Golf Week
Invitational.
The UT Tyler women’s golf team has also moved up to No. 15
in the Golfstat poll after winning the Al Jones Memorial Invitational. They
will next see action on Oct. 15 at Tunica National.
In men’s soccer, the latest NSCAA rankings put the Patriots
as the No. 2 team in the West Region and the No. 16 team in the nation.
The 8-2 men’s soccer team, sitting in first place in the
American Southwest Conference, heads into this weekend’s home matches against
LeTourneau and East Texas Baptist after shutting out Schreiner and Texas
Lutheran last week on the road by a combined 8-0 score.
Finally, the UT Tyler men’s cross country team moved up a spot to No. 3
in the USTFCCCA South/Southeast Regional Poll after finishing second on the
Rhodes Invitational in Memphis, Tenn., last Saturday. Only Division I Memphis
finished better than the Patriots.
The Patriots’ runners will travel north to the NCAA
Pre-National Meet in Oshkosh, Wisc., on Oct. 15.
