Cross Country Season Ends at NCAA Regionals

SEGUIN -- The 2011 Cross Country season came to an end this past weekend at the NCAA South/Southeast Regional Championships after the Patriots finished seventh in the team competition.  UT Tyler finished the season as the American Southwest Conference team champion for the fifth time in school history.

Seniors Jeff Chandler and Ross Renfroe finished their UT Tyler careers leading the way for the Patriots in the final race.  Chandler finished in 15th place overall with a team-best time of 26:55.9, while Renfroe finished right behind in 16th place with a time of 27:07.1.

Sophomore Nicklas Huff came in at 34th place with a time of 27:41.3 while fellow sophomore Ford Noack finished with a time of 28:34.7.

Underclassmen Will Krogman, Derek Blain and Kyle Clawson all contributed to the team finish and will return next season with Huff and Noack to try and retain the ASC Championship.

The meet was won by Lynchburg, who finished with 112 points and three of the top 25 finishers.  

Centre's John Keiffer won the individual regional championship with a time of 26:04.5 and helped his team secure the second place finish.
