Paced by a
career-high 31 points from Anthony Reese, The University of Texas at
Tyler men’s basketball team extended its American Southwest Conference
record to 7-1 with a 94-75 win over Sul Ross State Saturday afternoon
at the Herrington Patriot Center.
The
Patriots will begin ASC East Division play against Louisiana College on
Thursday in Tyler.
Leading
by as many as 11 early in the first half, UT Tyler allowed the Lobos
to fight back to within four at the break but a 22-4 run to start the
second half brought the Patriots’ lead back to 60-40 with 12:06
remaining in the game.
Reese
scored 20 of his 31 points in the second half and Hakeem Kareem added
25 for the game.
The
Patriots dominated the boards, outrebounding Sul Ross State 54-39.
