Men's Basketball Comes Up Short at ETBU

MARSHALL – The University of Texas at Tyler men’s basketball team lost its fourth straight game on Thursday night, falling to East Texas Baptist, 75-72, in American Southwest Conference action.

UT Tyler (8-10, 8-5) trailed for a large part of the game until finally breaking through and gaining the lead midway through the second half. The score see-sawed back and forth for the remainder of the game, until the Tigers (10-9, 7-7) retook the lead with 1:25 left to play for what went on to be the final time.

Although ETBU pushed the lead out six in the final minute, UT Tyler was able to cut the lead in half with just :15 seconds left in the contest thanks to a three-pointer from senior Anthony Reese (Longview, Texas).

However in the game’s waning seconds neither team was able to get off a shot and ETBU held on for the three-point win.

Reese and junior Hakeem Kareem (Houston, Texas) led all players with 19 points each. Senior Marlon Hill (Port Arthur, Texas) followed the Patriot duo with 11 points of his own.

Junior James Morman (Houston, Texas) led four Tigers in double figures with 17 points.

UT Tyler will look to end its four-game skid on Saturday when it travels to Longview to take on LeTourneau at 3:00 p.m.
