MARSHALL –
The University of Texas at Tyler men’s basketball team lost its fourth
straight game on Thursday night, falling to East Texas Baptist, 75-72,
in American Southwest Conference action.
UT
Tyler (8-10, 8-5) trailed for a large part of the game until finally
breaking through and gaining the lead midway through the second half.
The score see-sawed back and forth for the remainder of the game, until
the Tigers (10-9, 7-7) retook the lead with 1:25 left to play for what
went on to be the final time.
Although
ETBU pushed the lead out six in the final minute, UT Tyler was able to
cut the lead in half with just :15 seconds left in the contest thanks to
a three-pointer from senior Anthony Reese (Longview, Texas).
However
in the game’s waning seconds neither team was able to get off a shot
and ETBU held on for the three-point win.
Reese
and junior Hakeem Kareem (Houston, Texas) led all players with 19 points
each. Senior Marlon Hill (Port Arthur, Texas) followed the Patriot duo
with 11 points of his own.
Junior
James Morman (Houston, Texas) led four Tigers in double figures with 17
points.
UT
Tyler will look to end its four-game skid on Saturday when it travels to
Longview to take on LeTourneau at 3:00 p.m.
