CONWAY, Ark. – Skyler Hadden went off for 17 points and Chase Mason and Emeka Obukwelu each added 15 points to lead the UT Tyler men’s basketball team to a 110-85 non-conference win over Hendrix College on Friday on the Cliff Garrison Court at Grove Gymnasium.

The Patriots (9-3) matched a season-best with their 110 points that they also had in a win over Rhodes College and improved to 7-0 in non-conference with the win over the Warrior who fell to 1-9 on the season. UT Tyler shot over 70 percent to get out to a 60-38 halftime advantage and finished the game shooting 40-for-70 (57.1 percent) from the field and was 15-for-25 (60%) on 3-pointers in the 25-point victory.

“I really liked the energy and tempo that our guys played with tonight," UT Tyler coach Jamon Copeland said. "When you play with great collective energy from your entire team, it makes the game a lot of fun which is when you tend to play to your potential. Our goal as a team is to take a step every game to maximizing our potential.  We did a great job tonight of taking one of those steps.”

Hadden led the team with his 17 points after shooting 8-for-10 from the field, while Obukwelu was 7-for-9 for the Patriots. Mason drilled three 3-pointers and finished with a career-high 15 points, while Xavier Fogle scored a career-best 13 points after going 5-for-5 from the field and 3-for-3 on 3-pointers and Davis Moore also had 13 points on three 3-pointers. Johnell Lane would add 11 points after going 3-for-3 on 3-pointers to give the Patriots six double-digit scorers in the game with Cameron Frank at nine points and Melvin Anthony at six.

Obukwelu led the Patriots with 12 points in the first half after going 6-for-7 from the field, while Hadden was at 11 points after shooting 5-for-6. Mason and Lane both added eight each in the first 20 minutes to help the Patriots to a 22-point halftime lead where they shot 71.4 percent from the field and were 6 of 12 on 3-pointers.

UT Tyler will return to action with a pair of ASC road games next week, starting on Jan. 4, 2018 against Howard Payne in Brownwood before playing Sul Ross on Saturday, Jan. 6 in Alpine. The Patriots are currently 2-3 in ASC play and 5-2 on the road.
