    AWARD: Obukwelu named ASC East Player of the Week

    UT Tyler sophomore Emeka Obukwelu has earned ASC East Division Player of the Week after averaging 27 points and and 14.5 rebounds per game in a pair of wins over Texas Lutheran and Southwestern last weekend. Obukwelu and the Patriots return to action at 3 p.m. on Wednesday at Austin College.

    The UT Tyler men's basketball team completed a two-game road trip to start the season with a pair of wins after earning an 86-68 non-conference win over Southwestern on Saturday with Emeka Obukwelu recording a double-double with 26 points and 16 rebounds to lead the Patriots at the Robertson Center.

    Basketball adds exhibition to benefit hurricane relief

    The UT Tyler basketball programs have added a pair of exhibition games against Centenary College on Saturday, Nov. 4 in an effort to raise money for the Rebuild Texas Relief Fund. The Patriot women’s team will host the Ladies at 1 p.m., followed by the men’s team plays the Gents at 3 p.m. at the Herrington Patriot Center.

    A group of UT Tyler student-athletes led by associate head men’s basketball coach Jake Deer traveled to Whiteriver, Arizona this month for the Respecting the Circle of Life: Mind, Body, and Spirit – a camp which served approximately 300 youth—ranging from 11 to 19 years old from the White Mountain Apache Indian Tribe.
