TYLER -- Senior Darren Houliston hit a last-second three-pointer to give the UT Tyler men's basketball team a 74-71 win over American Southwest Conference rival Mississippi College on Saturday.  Teammate Travis Dykman led the Patriots with 26 points in the win.

After trailing for most of the game, the Patriots (14-5, 9-4) found themselves in a 69-62 deficit with just 2:58 remaining in regulation.

Nathan Harbour started the UT Tyler comeback with a layup, to cut the Mississippi College (10-8, 7-6) lead to 71-66 with 1:56 remaining.

Teammate Jordan Cannon then hit a three-pointer from the right wing, making the score 71-69 with 1:23 left, and momentum swinging in favor of the Patriots.

With 20 seconds remaining, Dykman hit the game-tying shot, a nifty layup that found the bottom of the net.

After Mississippi College turned the ball over on the offensive end, UT Tyler called the play from midcourt, when Dykman wasn't open, he passed to Houliston who drained the long three for the win.

The Choctaws controlled the paint in the game, scoring 20 points and hauling in 32 rebounds to the Patriots 26.

UT Tyler finished the game shooting 45-percent from three-point land, hitting 4-9 from beyond the arc.

Joe Stephens finished the game with 11 points in the win, while teammate Billy Hopson finished with 11, including three three-pointers.

The men will continue on the homestand against ASC east rival Texas-Dallas on Thursday, January 31 at 7:30 p.m. in Tyler.
