Men End Season With Win, 89-80, Over Ozarks

TYLER -- The UT Tyler men's basketball team ended their season on Saturday afternoon with a win over Ozarks, 89-80, at the Herrington Patriot Center on senior day.

The Patriots final record is 8-17 overall and 7-13 in American Southwest Conference action. Ozarks final season record drops to 9-16 and 6-14 in league play.

UT Tyler honored five seniors before tip off- Brandon LeVine, Larry Carpenter, Lance Murphy, Jacob McDonald, and Spencer Denmon. 

The first half was back and forth, as both teams exchanged leads numerous times. UT Tyler finally pulled out in front, thanks to 42- percent shooting, to take a 37-33 intermission lead.

In the second half, the Patriots retained the lead the majority of the time while improving from the field to 62- percent and making 19 of 30 second half free throws. UT Tyler outscored Ozarks, 52-47 in the second half, and earned the victory 89-80.

Darren Houliston recorded a double- double with 24 points and 11 rebounds. Billy Hopson recorded 16 points in 18 minutes. Seniors LeVine and McDonald scored 13 points and 10 points, respectively. Other contributions by the seniors were Murphy (six points and seven rebounds) and Denmon (six points and five rebounds).
