CLARKSVILLE, Ark. – Graham Welch was a single away from a cycle and Daniel Williams went 5-for-5 to lead No. 2-ranked UT Tyler to a 12-5 series finale win and a sweep of Ozarks on Sunday at Lonnie Qualls Field.

Welch hit an RBI double in the first inning, an RBI triple in the second and a solo home run in the eighth for the Patriots (21-4, 11-1 ASC) who have now swept three straight conference series and are 9-2 away from home. Williams hit the fifth home run of his season and had four singles to raise his team-leading batting average to .460 with 46 hits through 25 games. A senior from Katy, Williams finished the three-game series at Ozarks (9-12, 3-9 ASC) hitting 9-for-12 with five RBI while Trenton Buchhorn and Blake Wilson each had seven hits during the sweep.

Cason Adams (5-0) struck out five and scattered five hits over 4 1/3 innings of work for the Patriots, while Evan Kissinger, Hunter Palmer and Reese Read came in for relief appearances. Adams walked only one and allowed only two earned runs in his seventh start of the season that was supported by a 19-hit performance from his offense.

Welch was 3-for-6 in the game with a team-leading three RBI, while Wilson was 3-for-5 with an RBI and run scored for the Patriots who led 7-2 after two innings and never looked back in the win. Josh Burns added two hits, while Tim Hunter, Jared Pauley, Gunnar Quick, Buchhorn, Ben Romines and Kyle Broussard had one hit each. UT Tyler’s 19 hits are the second most in a game this season with a 22-hit performance at Howard Payne being the best so far this season.

UT Tyler will return to action at 4 p.m. on Tuesday at Millsaps before returning home to host Hardin-Simmons in a three-game ASC series. The series begins at 6 p.m. on Friday before a 1 p.m. doubleheader in a rematch of last year’s ASC Championship Finals between the Patriots and Cowboys.
