BELTON -- The UT Tyler baseball team took a 2-0 lead early against Mary Hardin-Baylor, but a big six-run inning for the Cru put the game away, as the Patriots fell 8-3.  In the loss, the Patriots totaled seven hits while committing four errors.

UT Tyler (3-7. 1-3) got the scoring started in the top of the first, as Sam Lane scored on a wild pitch, making it 1-0 Patriots.

The Patriots added another run in the second inning, as Dillon Berry singled to drive in Warren Neely, giving UT Tyler a 2-0 lead.

UMHB (5-0, 4-0) answered in the tying the score with an RBI single and RBI double, evening the game at 2-2 after three innings

With the game still tied in the seventh, the Cru put the game away, scoring six runs in the inning.

The big hit of the game came with the bases loaded, as Burrow cleared them all with a three-run double.

Trailing 8-2, the Patriots scored one more in the top of the ninth on a Neely single, but it would be too little, too late.

Starter Jake Beam went six innings, giving up three earned runs while striking out five in the loss.

Neely and Steven Paramore led the way offensively for the Patriots, totaling two hits apiece.

UT Tyler and UMHB will continue the series with a double-header beginning at 1 p.m. tomorrow in Belton.
