Baseball's Booher Named Preseason All-American

STERLING, Va. - Senior Blake Booher (Hurst, Texas) of The University of Texas at Tyler baseball team was picked as one of the three best pitchers in all of Division III baseball going into the 2009 season by on Friday.

The list, published annually by, named a total of 32 players to two 12-man teams and an eight-man honorable mention list. Booher was one of three pitchers named to the first team.

Booher went 11-1 last season and allowed just over two earned runs per nine innings pitched. He also struck out 84 batters while giving up only 62 hits.

The senior right-hander was named American Southwest Conference East Division Pitcher of the Year and West Region Pitcher of the Year for his work during the 2008 season. Booher was also a second team All-America selection by both and the American Baseball Coaches Association.

Booher was one of just two ASC players to make the prestigious list in 2009. Senior utility man Bruce Cameron of Ozarks (Ark.) was named to the second team.

The Patriots will open their 2009 campaign at Irwin Field on Feb. 6, against Concordia (Tex.) at 6 p.m.
