ALEXANDRIA, Louisiana – UT Tyler senior Daniel Williams drove in three runs and Sam Sitton and Hunter Palmer both threw two scoreless innings out of the bullpen to help lead the Patriots to an 8-3 non-conference win over LSU-Alexandria on Tuesday at Generals Field.

The No. 13-ranked Patriots (9-2) improved to 6-2 away from Tyler with the win over the Generals (9-7) in UT Tyler head coach Brent Porche’s first game back at LSU-A where he had coached the previous four years. UT Tyler took a 1-0 lead in the second inning on a Blake Wilson single but the Generals would take a 3-1 lead in the third on a two-run Blake Garrett home run. Williams would tie the game at five in the fifth with a two-run single to right field with two outs before the Patriots scored two runs in the seventh on a sacrifice fly from Williams and then an error.

UT Tyler added three runs in the ninth before Palmer came in to close it out for his third save of the season. Palmer struck out two and worked out of trouble on three hits, while Sitton (1-0) would allow only one hit and record two strikeouts in two innings of relief. Max Page turned in another solid Tuesday night start, going five innings and scattering seven hits. Page, who won last week at Southwestern, struck out two and allowed three runs before turning the ball over to Sitton.

Williams finished the game 1-for-3 with a team-leading three RBI, while Wilson and Jared Pauley had two hits each from the bottom of the batting order. The Patriots finished the game with eight hits, including the second triple of the season from Trenton Buchhorn, a double from Brady McCoy and a single from Alex Bishop. Williams leads the Patriots with 17 RBI and is now hitting .500 with 23 hits, while Buchhorn went 1-for-3 against the Generals and is hitting .457 with 21 hits and 10 RBI this season.

UT Tyler returns to action this weekend with a three-game set against Belhaven at Irwin Field to begin an 11-game home stand. The series begins at 6 p.m. on Friday before the two teams meet for a 1 p.m. doubleheader on Saturday.
