In addition to leading the UT Tyler baseball team to their first ever NCAA Division III World Series appearance, Bishop also just graduated with a degree in mechanical engineering. How he manages the demands of being a collegiate athlete and student are quite admirable.

    PREVIEW: @UTTylerBaseball riding momentum into Appleton

    After winning five straight elimination games and scoring four runs in the bottom of the ninth inning to advance, the UT Tyler Patriots will play in the program’s first-ever NCAA Division III Baseball Championship game at 10 a.m. on Friday against Oswego State at Fox Cities Stadium in Appleton, Wisconsin. The eight-team, double-elimination tournament includes Randolph-Macon, Misericordia, Concordia-Chicago, Swarthmore, Wooster and Texas Lutheran. The championship finals are scheduled for Tuesday, May 29 with an if-necessary game on May, 30 to determine the NCAA DIII champion.

    The UT Tyler Patriots have advanced to the NCAA Division III Championship tournament for the first time in program history after a series of improbable events that started with an at-large bid to make it and ended with scoring four runs in the bottom of the ninth inning for a 5-4 victory over Rhodes College to win the NCAA DIII Central Regional at GCS Credit Union Ballpark.

    The UT Tyler Patriots are heading to the NCAA Central Regional Championship finals after knocking off No. 1-ranked Wisconsin-Whitewater in a 4-1 elimination game win with sophomore Austin Schneider throwing a complete-game on Sunday at GCS Credit Union Field. The Patriots, who have now won three straight elimination games and knocked off the top two seeds in the tournament, had reached the second game on Sunday with a 5-1 win over No. 13 Webster earlier in the day and are now two wins away from the program’s first trip to the NCAA Division III Championship tournament.
