Sam Lane

Sam Lane is in his second season as a UT Tyler assistant coach after playing four years for the Patriots.

A center fielder during three American Southwest Conference Championships, Lane was a three-time all-conference and four-time ASC All-Academic selection and earned four ASC Hitter of the Week honors during his playing career. Lane played in a program-record 173 games for the Patriots and finished his career with 203 hits which is the third most in program history and holds the record for the most triples at 15. In the field, Lane had 382 putouts, six assists and did not make a single error in the 173 games he played in.

“It is always exciting to have players that have grown up in a program that want to get into the coaching profession.”  Says Porche about Coach Lane.  “Sam is here for the right reasons.  He works hard to make our guys better, and adds value to our staff with the experience he has as a player in the ASC and in Division III baseball.  I couldn’t be happier with the job he has done.  He has a bright future in this profession.”

A Plano native, Lane will be in charge of outfield development and assist with hitters.
